Anzac Day Reflections

On behalf of our school, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our ANZAC Day ceremony last week.

To our special guests, thank you for your presence and for helping us honour this important day. In particular Aviation High School’s Catafalque Party (including two ex-Ascot students) who represented themselves so very well.

The Catafalque Party included:

To our teachers and staff, thank you for your support in making this ceremony respectful and meaningful. Your class wreath contributions were truly creative, but most importantly,  thoughtful.

And to our students – thank you for your impressive Ascot audience manners - you listened with respect, participated with pride, and showed the spirit of ANZAC in your actions.   The band and choir are increasingly impressive, and I so admire the skill and courage of our students who performed The Last Post.   It was not missed on us that the skies opened at the beginning of this performance, and that the rain cleared and sun appeared at the end. 

Thank you to the parents who joined us, and to those who kindly were sharing our wreaths in the community at services on Anzac Day.  

We remembered the bravery, courage, and sacrifice of the men and women who served our country, and those who still do.   Thank you for remembering with us and with such dignity.
